New Coaches and club helpers

Thank you for offering to volunteer with Lilliput FC, without people like you the club simply couldn’t run.

Before you can join one of our teams as a helper/coach there a few important steps which must be followed and also for renewal.

6 Steps to complete

1

Get an FAN number from the FA

2

Share the FAN number with the club

3

FA enhanced DBS check

4

Safeguarding for children course

5

Complete FA coaching course

6

Complete introduction to First Aid course

1. Create an FAN Number on the FA site

Every person (child, adult, coach, physio etc) involved with the FA has a profile which contains your contact details and is used to track courses you have done etc. As part of this account you are issued with a unique FA Number (FAN), which then enables that profile to be easily found. Please do this first as you need your FAN during step 2. Please note that if you have ever had any dealings with the FA before (such as buying tickets to watch Bournemouth play), then you will already have a FAN and you can miss out step 1.

*Please do take the time to check if you already have a FAN as having multiple FAN's means your qualifications such as DBS may not show on the system properly. This will normally be apparent if you try to set up a new one, it will say your email address is already in use. You can then do password reset to get into your account and find out your FAN.

2. Send your details to the Lilliput FC welfare officer

Please send the following details to lilliputfc.welfare@gmail.com

- Full name

- Date of birth

- Address

- FA Number (FAN) from step 1.

We will then use this to add you as a DBS applicant to the Lilliput ‘Whole Game System’. This then affiliates you to Lilliput FC (on WGS) and we then use the 'Whole Game System' to check and manage our volunteers to make sure the club satisfies the FA's safeguarding requirements. Once done we will let you know and you will be able to log on to Whole Game System to initiate the DBS procedure.

All club members who have regular interactions with children require a criminal record check to be carried out. While you may have had a DBS check done with other organisations such as your work, a separate FA check is required to cover your time at Lilliput FC

3. Apply for an FA enhanced DBS check

Once you have sent your details and FAN number to the Welfare officer we will add you as a DBS applicant to the Lilliput Whole Game System.

N.B. Even if you already have an enhanced DBS check outside of Lilliput FC, the club will still need to run an enhanced DBS check on your behalf.

4. Complete the Safeguarding for Children course

You will also need to complete the Safeguarding Children course. This is a two-hour online course that you can complete at your own pace. The cost for doing the course (£30) will be reimbursed by Lilliput FC.
